Spiritual Guidance Through Lymphoma Diagnosis & Treatment

If you have been diagnosed with lymphoma, then it can be very helpful and beneficial to you to find a connection to something beyond yourself. This is true of any illness. You may find that having a strong faith or a sense of something greater than yourself is out there can help you cope with having lymphoma. It could also help you to maintain a more positive attitude and outlook as you face the challenge that having cancer will present to you.

It is completely normal to ask “Why me, God?” and “Why has God let me down?” It can be hard to see God through your illness. You may find it helpful to seek out guidance through your church. Your minister, preacher, or priest can point you in the right direction or council you themselves. Some hospitals will even have someone on staff that can provide you with the spiritual guidance that you seek.

If you are the family member of someone that has been touched by cancer, then you need to be there for them to offer spiritual guidance. If you do not think you can offer them the spiritual guidance that they need, then you can offer to carry them to church with you if you attend. If you do not attend church, but you know a clergyman or someone that could offer them the guidance they need, then you can connect them with each other.

Everyone’s spiritual beliefs are different. Depending on your beliefs, your church may offer many services to you. The clergyman at your church can possibly anoint you with oil and bless your body to aid in the healing process. It is believed that by anointing someone with oil, they are ridding them of dangerous diseases and influences. Or if your belief system allows it, your church members can lay hands on you and pray for you to be healed. The laying on of hands is a religious practice that is a symbolic and formal method of invoking the Holy Spirit in order to bless and heal you. There has been too much evidence that prayer does heal to discount its abilities. Praying to be healed can give you enough strength to go on and actually beat your disease. Praying is a direct petition to God to help heal you of your disease. It can work as long as you have the faith to back it up.

All kinds of spiritual guidance is available to you, all you have to do is ask. There are many support groups and online support groups that can offer you the spiritual support that you need. At the very least, they can point you in the right direction and help you find it. Everyone needs to have some kind of faith and belief system where their spirituality is concerned when they are dealing with a disease like lymphoma. By finding the spiritual guidance you need to see you through your disease, you are taking the first step onto the road to remission. You can beat this disease. Medicine helps, but faith can go a long way to a cure.
